Meet the Leaders and Equippers who are
supporting our Missional Communities
Jade Stanford
I was saved by the transforming power of Christ at the age of nine. I am married to Jennifer, and we have six children – Claire, Ethan, Blythe, Owen, Evelyn, and Phinehas. Amy Bumpass and her son, Omar Parker, also live with us, and we've grafted them into the Stanford Family tree!

I have been involved in Christian ministry for over 20 years. I've served in the roles of worship minister, deacon, missional community leader, teacher, and elder. Jennifer and I take great joy in counseling, in discipleship, and in showing hospitality. I'm thankful to be able to directly minister to my community through our auto repair business as well.

One scripture that is especially meaningful to me is Colossians 3:1-3, which says, "If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."

For fun I like to work out with my local F3 group, ride dirt bikes, listen to podcasts, and hang out with my family.
Brian Ottinger
Grace and Peace,
My name is Pastor Brian. After 32 hard years of living life "my way", the Lord rescued me by His Grace and for His Glory in 2010. Since then, I have sought to live my life for Him. God has burdened me to bring His restoration to the hurting and to help equip the church for the mission of God.

Next to a relationship with Christ, my relationship with my beautiful wife is the one I treasure the most. The Lord has also blessed me with five of the coolest people I know, my sons. I love time with my family; I love to travel, listening to hip hop, folk and reggae music, I also enjoy watching the Braves, Hornets and Panthers.

Thanks for checking out our website. On behalf of myself and our family we want to invite you to experience life in Christ. Hope to see you soon.
Carl Wood
I was blessed to be born into a Christian home in east Tennessee, to a godly mother & father who raised me in the nurture & admonition of the Lord. In 1997 I married Rebecca, whom I had met at a Christian university in South Carolina. 2 years later after earning a degree in pharmacy, we moved to Charlotte. In the years since, God has blessed us with 5 children (Andrew, Anna, Alexa, Adam, & Audrey).

God has shown His faithfulness to us & taught us to trust Him in many ways, none more so than through the joys & challenges of raising a disabled child. If you meet Audrey (& I hope you do!), she won't be able to speak to you; but if you'll let her, she'll likely give you the biggest hug you've ever had! I enjoy studying the Bible & discussing hard topics. When I need some down time, you'll likely find me at home with friends and family, playing a game or watching a movie.
Stephen Bellaire
Pastoral Intern
Growing up in a homeschooled Christian home, familiarity with church life was required. I came to Jesus at 7 years old praying with my father in our living room. Since then, my Heavenly Father has loved, rebuked, & transformed me to look like Jesus, by His grace!

I currently serve as Worship Director and Church Planting Intern at Convergence Church since November 2020. I am so thankful to be life-on-life, life-in-community, and life-on-mission with my spiritual (and biological) family!
Jim Benfield
Sunday Services Coordinator
I have been a Christian since the age of 8. I'm now 60 years old. I have been very active in church all my life. I worked at the International Mission Board for 10 years, where I was an AV technician. My wife was a children's minister so I would help her with Vacation Bible School. I was also the Puppet Director, along with my wife, for 10 years. We would take our shows to entertain at women's shelters, girl's and boy's homes, churches, and parks. My wife died from a brain tumor in 2006.

I love to fish and was an athletic trainer for 5 years. I've also played football, wrestled, done track, and was a state champion in discus. Now I set up the church for Sunday gatherings, do sound, lighting, projections, help with the fellowship meals, communion, and more!
Kristen Flocke
Administrative Assistant
After spending my teens and most of my twenties searching for satisfaction and wholeness in the things of this world, the Lord used tragedy to bring me to my husband Aaron and ultimately reconciled to Him. I am so grateful to have been called to my savior Jesus Christ, and so thankful that He has led me to this wonderful church family here at Convergence.

My husband and I moved to Charlotte in December 2020, and were welcomed with open arms by the pastors and congregation here at Convergence. I have been serving as the Administrative Assistant at Convergence Church since December 2021.
